Gazer MM509/MM709

For Skoda и Volkswagen. Car rear-view mirror with a built-in 4.3" 1000 cd/m² monitor and 2 video inputs for rear-view camera connection and additional  video feed.  One can use the control button that remembers the last setting to change the brightness of the built-in monitor or switch it off. Two versions of the mirror are available – with auto-dimming function and without it.

Gazer MM509/MM709 rear-view mirror with a built-in 4.3" monitor is designed for connection to a rear-view camera. Both mirrors are identical in terms of design and technical characteristics and the only difference is the presence of a dimmer in Gazer MM709 model. Auto dimming function offers protection from the glare of bright headlights of cars driving behind in the dark. The mirror surface dimming level varies depending on the lighting conditions around the car.

Gazer mirrors have a simple and effective operation principle. When driving in reverse, the video from the camera is displayed on the 4.3" built-in monitor and the driver is able to control the distance to obstacles behind the car that cannot be seen in the side mirrors and in the interior rear-view mirror. Such a video car parking system significantly increases the level of security helping avoid accidents or collisions with obstacles when driving in reverse. In addition, Gazer car mirror can be connected a secondary video signal source, e.g. a car DVR or a DVD player.

Using Gazer rear-view mirror when installing a car video parking system is the most appropriate solution as the model looks identical to the original mirror of a modern car. This way the car’s original interior design is preserved. A monitor integrated into the rear-view mirror ensures comfortable and safe driving in reverse, while the additional equipment for streaming video from the rear-view camera does not distract the driver.

Gazer rear-view mirrors have 2 composite video inputs. Each of them automatically switches to PAL or NTSC mode, depending on the input video signal. The first video input is designed to stream video from the car DVR or DVD player and displays the image as soon as it receives a video signal. At the same time, it is possible to disable the built-in monitor by pressing a corresponding button on the mirror’s front panel so as not to distract the driver if the DVR is constantly on and turn the monitor on again when needed.

The second video input is designed for connection of Gazer rear-view cameras. The video feed from this camera will be displayed on the monitor only when the camera is on, i.e. when the reverse gear is selected. In this case, the image from the rear-view camera will be prioritized and the built-in monitor will automatically switch to the rear-view camera video input as soon as the camera is turned on. Even if the built-in monitor was turned off by pressing a button on the mirror, it will automatically turn on and display the video from the rear-view camera as soon as it is turned on. Similarly, it will turn off as soon as the reverse gear is disengaged. For the most comfortable perception of the camera image, you can adjust the brightness of the built-in monitor using a corresponding button on the mirror.

For maximum viewing convenience, the mirror's front panel has a central control button with extended functionality. When driving in reverse,  one can use this button to set the brightness level of the built-in monitor that will be applied to all video inputs.  When the reverse gear is switched off, the button is used to turn the monitor on and off.  The mirror also has a "memory" function that remembers the last setting and enables it whenever the car engine starts.  If the monitor is turned off by pressing the button, it will not turn back on automatically the next time the engine starts.

The configuration of all mirror models includes a switching unit. In addition, depending on the mirror modification, the configuration may include other mounting elements: mate mounting and/or original plastic overlay that allows laying the power cable under the car headliner. Gazer rear-view mirror with a built-in monitor is designed for installation in a vehicle with the onboard voltage of 12 volts. Maximum current consumption does not exceed 220mA.
