Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG video interface allows connecting the stock MIB2 head unit of Audi: A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q7, Skoda: Octavia A7, Superb, Seat Ateca, as well as Volkswagen: Passat, Golf VII to such video sources as a rear view camera, a front view camera, a surround view system, or any other video equipment you need. With Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG video interface installed, your Audi, Skoda, Seat and Volkswagen will get any three of the above options, while the car's stock multimedia system will remain intact and fully operational.
Features and advantages
The key advantage of Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG video interface is that it supports three additional video sources connectible to your Audi, Skoda, Seat and Volkswagen's head unit. As a rule, the stock MIB2 multimedia system does not allow connecting third-party audio and video systems such as a rear view camera, a front view camera, and a surround view system. In some cases, the stock head unit does not even have the required input jacks. However, if your Audi, Skoda, Seat and Volkswagen already has a preinstalled display, it is only reasonable to use it for video output. With Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG video interface, one can connect two analogue video signals to the stock multimedia system and stream video to the car's stock display.
When installing Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG video interface, one can also connect extra safety assistants – a rear view camera, a front view camera, a surround view system, and a parking assist system capable of showing guidelines drawn by the stock parking sensor on the video from the cameras. Two additional video inputs allow connecting a DVR or other video sources to the stock MIB2 multimedia system.
Installation and controls
Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG multimedia interface supports Plug&Play (Pin-to-Pin) installation and connection without damaging your Audi, Skoda, Seat and Volkswagen's stock wiring. One must install the video interface behind the car's display and use the stock cable to connect it to the multimedia system and CAN bus. Once the interface is enabled, the multimedia system changes its operating mode and the car's stock display starts showing video feed from Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG video interface.
You can enable Gazer multimedia interface and switch between audio and video sources using the vehicle's stock button (NAVI, TEL, Voice) or the additional external button included in the supply package in case your Audi, Skoda, Seat and Volkswagen does not have a stock navigation control button. The rear or surround view camera mode is enabled automatically each time the car shifts into reverse gear.
Connecting cameras, surround view system, and parking assistant
Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG video interface allows connecting and using such important security systems as a rear view camera, a surround view system, and a parking assistant.
When Gazer rear view camera or surround view system is installed, the image displayed on the screen will have a special overlay with your Audi, Skoda, Seat and Volkswagen's trajectory (IPAS function). The parking guidelines will indicate the vehicle's driving direction depending on the steering wheel position.
If your car has a stock parking assistant, the information from it will also be displayed simultaneously with the video feed from the rear view camera or surround view system (PDC function). If your Audi, Skoda, Seat and Volkswagen does not have OEM parking sensors, you can install Gazer parking assistant, and Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG multimedia interface will display the information from it just as it would from the factory-installed parktronic system.
Gazer surround view system will ensure maximum safety when parking and maneuvering in a confined space by showing what happens around your car in the "top-down perspective" without any blind spots and time lag. For example, such driving tasks as parking near high street curbs, crossing a narrow bridge, or maneuvering among short polls or flowerbeds will become perfectly easy and safe posing no danger for pedestrians and your Audi, Skoda, Seat and Volkswagen. This system can also act as a DVR and a CCTV system by recording not only when the car is on the move but when it is parked as well. A signal from the G-sensor triggers the recording.
Connecting additional video sources
With Gazer VC500-MIB2/VAG video interface you can connect a rear view camera plus two additional video sources to your Concert/Symphony multimedia system. Alternatively, you can connect a DVR and a front view camera or any other combination of two video sources. You must press a button to enable and switch between these video sources, while video feed from the rear view camera or the surround view system will be shown on your Audi, Skoda, Seat and Volkswagen's display automatically whenever the car shifts into reverse gear.
